President Donald J. Trump has just signed into law the single largest stimulus package in American history, aimed at combatting the spread of the Chinese Wuhan Coronavirus, and providing immediate economic relief to Americans and businesses that have been the hardest hit by the disease. The bill includes $150 billion in funding for hospitals, another $150 billion for state and local governments, and $350 billion for small businesses so that they may acquire grants and loans to make up for lost expenses.
At the core of the bill is the provision that will see checks for $1,200 sent to every American citizen who makes less than $99,000 per year, intended to make up for lost income and allowing negatively-impacted Americans to continue to buy the supplies they need during the quarantine period.
In addition to signing the bill, President Trump has invoked the Defense Production Act, with the news that General Motors will begin working to mass-produce ventilators for those who are currently infected by the virus itself.
