In the latest update to the CDC’s official guidelines on how to combat the Chinese Coronavirus, President Donald Trump has announced tonight that some Americans should most likely be wearing protective coverings on their faces, such as surgical masks.

Although officials have acknowledged that a mask alone will not prevent one from catching the Coronavirus, the additional requirement is one more precautionary measure that some Americans, particularly those at higher risk, can take in order to avoid contracting the disease. This requirement will be in addition to the ongoing “social distancing” measures that have been in effect since March and will continue until April 30th.

President Trump, noting that these guidelines are not as strictly mandatory as others, said that “If people wanted to wear them, they can.”
