Yesterday, the U.S. Senate passed a bill that has been approved by the House of Representatives, allocating another $100 billion to fighting the spread of the Wuhan Coronavirus. The bill now heads to President Trump’s desk for his signature.
This is in addition to the original $8.3 billion Wuhan Coronavirus bill, and marks not only the latest significant effort by the government to combat this disease, but another moment of bipartisanship in Congress.
Additionally, the state-by-state response to the disease has expanded dramatically. Currently, 10 states offer “drive-through” Coronavirus testing at various mobile centers. Those states are: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington and another 11 states are establishing similar capabilities.
The next step, presumably, will be the $850 billion stimulus bill that Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has proposed, which may also include President Trump’s suggestion to give checks to every American negatively impacted by the Coronavirus.
